Identify my crocosmia

Herbaceous perennials with lanceolate leaves of 60 to 100 cm, green. The flower stalks are tall and slender, and from July to September appear brightly colored, funneled flowers, grouped in spikes.

Plant my crocosmia

Plant the crocosmias in the sun or semi shade, in humus rich, fresh and well drained soil, burying them 10 cm deep.

Water my crocosmia

It may be necessary, especially at resumption of vegetation and during flowering, to water the crocosmias copiously. For potted plants and indoors plants, check regularly and water as soon as the top of the soil is dry.

Mulch my crocosmia

A light layer of mulch over the soil with correct drainage will limit evaporation and much of the need for watering. Dead leaves and little broken branches work perfectly! Spread out in November, and resume if necessary in April-May. 3-4 cm of mulch should be enough.

Prune my crocosmia

Vigilant deadheading will prolong the blooming period !

Propagate my crocosmia

In March, it is possible to multiply the crocosmias by dividing the tuft with a spade. Be careful though, only make this on fairly solid plants: the rhizome is brittle and quite fragile.

Fertilize my crocosmia

Feed with compost on the topsoil.
